BIRKENSTOCK Thailand proudly presents The Art of Walking, Grounded in Nature with SUNTUR, an immersive art exhibition that reflects the brand’s commitment to supporting every step of your journey. Created in collaboration with renowned Thai artist Mr. Yozanun Wutigonsombutkul, also known as Suntur, the exhibition explores the theme of walking—both physically and metaphorically—as its central narrative.
The exhibition is held at The Chinese House, a historic Chinese-style architectural gem tucked away in a small alley near the Luang Kocha Itsahak Mosque (also known as the Mosque at Wat Koh) on Songwat Road. BIRKENSTOCK has transformed the surrounding grounds into an open-air art and design experience that celebrates the serene beauty of natural movement. From the very first step into the space, visitors are invited to connect deeply with their environment.
The outdoor area features meticulously manicured topiary inspired by the artwork Walk With You, Never Far, created exclusively for this event by Suntur. These sculpted bushes lead visitors toward the iconic Chinese House, notable for its semi-circular spiral staircase—a rare architectural feature from the reign of King Rama V, now the only one of its kind remaining in Bangkok.
Before entering the house, guests are invited to remove their shoes, encouraging a barefoot journey through the space. This gesture allows for direct sensory contact with the textures of the natural surfaces underfoot.
On the ground floor, the space transforms into The Hourglass Archive, a curated showcase tracing BIRKENSTOCK’s heritage journey—from the production of its very first pair of shoes to its modern-day collaborations with leading fashion houses. Here, guests can walk across a variety of textured floor surfaces, designed to mimic natural terrains. The experience is enhanced by calming aromas and ambient sounds that evoke the brand’s origins in nature and its use of natural materials.
On the second floor, visitors can take a break at a charming café offering handcrafted beverages and baked goods. The same floor also houses the Live PhotoBooth, where guests can step into an interactive installation inspired by Suntur’s Walk With You, Never Far. The booth simulates a walk through the artwork itself, capturing the spirit of the exhibition’s core message: “The Art of Walking.”
“Whenever I hit a creative block, I go for a walk to clear my head and find new inspiration,” says Suntur. “Even when I travel abroad, I always make time to explore public parks on foot. Sometimes I get so immersed in the moment that I forget about time and distance. That’s the inspiration behind my piece, Walk With You, Never Far. It features a couple wearing BIRKENSTOCK shoes, symbolizing how walking with someone you love makes any journey feel shorter. In another sense, the ‘You’ in the title also refers to a good pair of shoes—something that will walk with you, no matter how far you go.”
Following the exhibition, all trees and greenery from the garden installation will be donated to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Urban Landscape Department, contributing to the city’s ongoing greening efforts.
To bring the experience to life, BIRKENSTOCK has invited four prominent brand enthusiasts and art lovers—Off-Jumpol Adulkittiporn, Icesu-Natara Nopparatayapon, Gypso-Ariigantha Mahaplearkpong, and Junei-Plearnpichaya Komalarajun to explore and share their experiences of walking grounded in nature. Join us at The Chinese House, Songwat Road from November 18 – December 7, 2025 between 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM, and discover a new way of walking—one rooted in mindfulness, art, and nature.
